Archdale wildlife control tip of the month:
Do mothballs or ammonia help repel squirrels?
If you have squirrels that are finding a way to make it into your home, then you know that these pests can be outright horrific. They are messy and aren’t really concerned about your new wallpaper or your top of the line insulation. They are looking for food and a place to call their own, and your home can make the most inviting target for them.
Many, including Archdale wildlife removal, have turned to repellants to keep them out, and have found that commercial brands have very limited success in doing the job. What winds up happening is a person spends a lot of money with very little results in return.
One of the ideas that has been catching the attention of internet readers and Archdale exterminators is to use either ammonia or mothballs to keep the squirrels away. The belief is that the scent is too strong and the squirrels will find it unpalatable to stay around.
It would seem that logic would dictate that this can work. In all seriousness most animals would find these products to be around. Even human beings don’t like to breathe these substances in. I mean who really likes the smell of ammonia.
The question is whether this really works or not. Truthfully Archdale animal trapping can have some success, but it comes at a cost.
First understand that if you put mothballs or ammonia around your home to try to keep squirrels away, you are going to have to put a lot out. This is not a one-time, drop a few mothballs around your home and your problem is resolved. A squirrel can just go around the mothballs and get on your property or into your home without any real challenge. This makes it a complete waste of time to try this if you get down to it, unless you are going to completely douse your home with these compounds. You are going to need a ring or ammonia or mothballs to have any success.
Now the question to ask yourself is if this is what you really want Archdale pest control to put around your home. In all seriousness, who really wants their home smelling like ammonia the moment they go outside? It is going to smell like you are in a gas station bathroom.
Also consider that the chemicals used in both are hazardous to the environment. You put some ammonia or mothballs on the ground and near your plants and they are soon going to die. Is this really what you want – to destroy your home? That is the result that comes with these products.
